Wondering where to stay in Lombok? Keep reading to find out the best areas of the island and the top hotel options to fit your needs.
Lombok is a stunning island located just a short boat ride or plane ride from Bali. It is the perfect place to escape to if you are looking for an authentic Indonesian adventure. With so many breathtaking beaches, secret waterfalls, and impressive rice fields, it is easily one of the most beautiful places in Indonesia.
Where you decide to set up base in Lombok depends on what you want to do. If you want to explore attractions like Mount Rinjani, Gili Islands, Tui Kelep waterfall than staying on the Northern half of the island is suggested. If you are looking for a more beach focused stay then staying in the Southern half of the island is best.

However, Lombok is a small island and no matter where you stay you can always hire a driver or rent a scooter to get around the island. Below is a map of the best places to stay in Lombok. I will explain each and give some accommodation recommendations as well.

Where to stay in Lombok
Please note I have not been to all of these hotels and villas recommended. They are used as suggestions and to give you an idea of the accommodation options that are available.
Gili Trawangan
The Gili islands are some of Lombok’s most famous and popular attractions. Plenty of people come to Lombok for the sore purpose of hanging out on the islands to enjoy the vivid blue waters and white sands.
There are three Gili islands off the coast of Lombok and Gili Trawangan is the largest of the three. This island is full of beaches, is great for snorkeling, and is a hotspot for partying.
If you are looking to ease your way into Lombok and enjoy some relaxing beach days and later nights, Gili Trawangan is a great place to stay. However, it is an island and if you plan on exploring more of Lombok it is not the most practical place to set up base.
Expect the prices for accommodation to be more expensive here than on the mainland of Lombok. Some hotel options are listed below.

Gili Air is another stunning beautiful island among the three Gili’s. It is a great place for snorkeling amongst the bright coral and relaxing on the many beaches. There are a ton of accommodation options to choose from; whether you are looking for a budget option by the beach or a villa with your own private pool. Below are the best places to stay in Gili Air.

Senggigi
Senggigi is one of the main tourist spots in Lombok. Its close proximity to the Gili islands, Tui Kelep Waterfall, and rice fields make it a very attractive place to set up base while visiting Lombok. There are plenty of beaches that are perfect for relaxing on and tons of ocean side restaurants and bars full of other tourists.
You will find a ton of accommodation options here at very low prices! You can save a lot and opt for a low cost – but the still beautiful option, or pay a little more for something spectacular.

Tetebatu
There is no better place to stay in Lombok if you are looking for a fully immersive Lombok experience than in Tetebatu. It is located right alongside Mount Rinjani and is full of natural beauty. All around Tetebatu you will find scattered waterfalls, lush rice fields, and an authentic Indonesian community.
If you are looking for close proximity to beaches, this isn’t the best option, but it is perfect for adventure seekers. In Tetebatu you will find some of the lowest accommodation prices on the island, around 10 euros for a decent place!

Kuta
Kuta is one of Lombok’s other very popular tourist spots. The whole area is packed with hotels and resorts that are all beautiful. Staying in Kuta is best for those of you looking for close proximity to some of the most beautiful beaches in the world, and great surfing locations.
Kuta and the surrounding areas are packed with beaches like Pink Beach, Tanjung Aan Beach, and more that are just waiting for you. Kuta is located just 30 minutes from the airport and is super easy to reach. The prices for accommodation here are much like the rest of the island – extremely well priced. You have options ranging from hotels to resorts, and even private villas.
