How to get to Tibumana waterfall from Ubud
The closest city to Tibumana waterfall and other beautiful waterfalls in Bali is Ubud. This is the best place to set up base if you are looking to experience a more adventurous side of Bali and enjoy the wonderful Tibumana Waterfall. However, Bali is small and you can visit the waterfall from other cities like Canggu or Seminyak, the drive will just be longer (1.5 hours).
Getting to Tibumana waterfall from Ubud is quite simple and offers a beautiful ride. It takes around 45 minutes by scooter and brings you down some amazing side streets and roads. I found the ride beyond enjoyable and felt like I was seeing a whole new side to Bali. As you near the waterfall you will drive down palm tree-lined streets and endless ricefields! You will also drive past an authentic Balinese village and see the locals engaged in their everyday life.
If you are not comfortable with a scooter you can also rent a private driver for the day which is a very popular thing to do in Bali. A private driver will bring you anywhere you want to go for 8 hours for around 500,000 IDR (32 euros).
Once you arrive you will pay entrance and park before walking to the waterfall.

All about Tibumana Waterfall Bali
Once you park your scooter or car you will see a Balinese template. This is not the main attraction to the spot but is nice to look at while you are already there.
After parking and viewing the temple you will walk for about 10 minutes until you reach the waterfall. The walk is through the lush exotic jungle and is beautiful. There is also a clearly marked path with signs to follow which makes finding it a lot easier. You will feel like a jungle explorer while walking to the waterfall.
At the parking lot of the waterfall and along the path to the waterfall there are small shops that sell water, ice-cream, and other snacks. The prices here are higher than in the city but if you need a drink or something to eat then you are covered.
Upon arriving at the waterfall you will notice the huge falls, a large pool of water, and the surrounding sandy area. The force of the waterfall depends on the time of year you visit, in the wet season, it will be more forceful than in the dry season. There are some rules listed once you arrive at the waterfalls which read:
- Do not swim under the waterfall – The current is very strong and could suck you under
- Throw your garbage in the bins, not on the ground
- Do not swim too far – Rocks can fall at unpredictable times
- Do not stand near the cliffs – Once again the rocks are unpredictable
- Going inside the cave is off-limits
One of the most exciting parts of this waterfall is that visitors are permitted to swim in the water. This makes it the perfect Ubud waterfall to chill at for a period of time to admire the nature and natural beauty surroundings. There are also local photographers who sit at this waterfall and will take photos of you for a small fee.
Tibumana Waterfall is still one of Bali’s less popular waterfalls but it won’t stay like this for long! The morning hours welcome very few people and you can spend some time here in an almost private environment. However, the afternoon can get quite a bit busier so if you are looking for a more private experience, try going in the morning.
