5 Days in Corsica
Day 1: Land in Figari
- Pick up the rental car and drive to Porto Vecchio
Upon arrival at Figari Sud-Corse Airport, pick up your rental car and begin your journey to Porto Vecchio. Enjoy the stunning drive through the picturesque countryside, taking in the rugged landscapes and beautiful coastal views.
Once you reach Porto Vecchio, check into your accommodation and take some time to relax. Explore the charming town center, wander through its narrow streets, and soak in the Mediterranean atmosphere. Visiting Porto Vecchio is one of the top things to do in Corsica for a reason!
Visit the marina and admire the boats bobbing in the harbor. Treat yourself to dinner at one of the local restaurants in the old town, trying authentic Corsican cuisine and perhaps trying some regional specialties.
Porto Vecchio is where I based myself for the first 3 days of my Corsica holiday and I think it is the perfect place in the South Island for easily seeing all the top attractions.

Start your day by heading on a day trip to the stunning town of Bonifacio. Located on the southern tip of Corsica, Bonifacio is known for its dramatic cliffs and picturesque old town. There are so many amazing things to do in Bonifacio you could easily spend a day or two here, but with the limited time, you will have to budget just half a day.
The drive from Porto-Vecchio to Bonifacio in Corsica is approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes to 1 hour and 30 minutes, depending on traffic and road conditions.
In the afternoon, make your way to Plage de Santa Giulia, a beautiful beach with crystal-clear turquoise waters and fine white sand. Spend the rest of the day lounging on the beach, swimming, and unwinding under the warm Corsican sun.
The drive from Bonifacio to Plage de Santa Giulia in Corsica is relatively short, taking approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
As the day comes to a close, drive back 30 minutes to Porto Vecchio and enjoy a relaxing evening in the town. Indulge in a delicious dinner at one of the local restaurants. This is a very busy day but with only 5 days in Corsica, there is a lot to see and little time!
Day 3: Drive to Ajaccio
On the third day during your 5 days in Corsica, you will drive from Porto Vecchio to Ajaccio – your base for night three.
The drive from Porto Vecchio to Ajaccio takes you along the southwestern coast of Corsica, offering breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea and the rugged coastline. The drive from Porto-Vecchio to Ajaccio takes approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes to 3 hours so prepare yourself with snacks, drinks, and good music.
As you approach Ajaccio, the capital city of Corsica, prepare to immerse yourself in its rich history and vibrant atmosphere. Ajaccio is renowned as the birthplace of Napoleon Bonaparte, and you can visit the Maison Bonaparte, his childhood home turned museum, to learn about his life and legacy. While here be sure to explore the historic center of Ajaccio, with its charming streets, lively markets, and beautiful architecture.
In the afternoon, head to one of the nearby beaches, such as Plage du Trottel or Plage du Ricanto, to unwind and enjoy some sun and sand. If you’re interested in water sports, you can try your hand at activities like snorkeling, paddleboarding, or jet skiing.
Spend the evening in Ajaccio in the old town relaxing before heading back to your accommodation to relax.
